This page is for the people and organisations whose public statements appear in EnergyInfluence.

Why you are here

You are in EnergyInfluence because what you say in public helps to shape the energy agenda: you are an executive, a minister, an official or regulator, an analyst, a researcher or a journalist. The product follows about 500 such people and about 50 organisations. It records what you say in public, on the record, in your professional role, and links every line to the place you said it. Its readers are people who work in energy communications, public affairs and analysis. The feed can be read only by signed-in readers who have agreed to our terms; it is not open to the public web or to search engines.

What we hold about you

• Your name, role and organisation, and the region you work in.
• A short professional biography, with the public source it came from.
• A photograph, where we have one. If you would prefer a different one or none, tell us.
• The addresses of your public professional channels (for example your X or Bluesky account, your newsletter, your organisation's newsroom).
• The public statements themselves, from those channels and from the official record (for example Hansard, the Congressional Record, the European Commission press corner), and press headlines.

What we never use

LinkedIn. Private or locked accounts. Direct messages. Anything behind a paywall or a login: for a paid newsletter we read only the part its publisher shows to everyone. Anything about your private life, family, health or home. If something of that kind ever appears, it is a mistake and we will remove it.

What we do with it

Each statement becomes one line: a one-sentence summary in our words, never a quotation, with the date and a link to the source. Lines are tagged by theme and grouped with other people's statements on the same event. Your card shows your recent statements and a simple count of how active you have been compared with your own past.

The lines are written by AI models. The text of your public statements is sent for this purpose to model providers: DeepSeek, Anthropic, OpenAI and TypeSafe. They process it for us. AI summaries can be wrong. The linked original is the record, and we correct errors quickly: see below.

What we do not do

We do not score you, rate your sentiment, assign you a political position or predict what you will do. We do not build a profile of your private views. We do not sell a list of the people we follow, and we do not contact you or anyone else using this data.

Our reason in law

We rely on a legitimate interest: there is a real public and professional interest in an accurate, linked record of what influential people say in public about energy, and recording public professional speech intrudes very little on the people who choose to speak. Where a public statement shows a political opinion, we rely on the fact that you made it public yourself. We review this balance when the product changes.

If you want something changed

Write to ross@fourfold.work. We aim to reply to a person named in the feed within two working days, and always within one month.

• A line is wrong or misrepresents you. Send the link. If it is wrong we correct or withdraw it and record the correction.
• Your details are wrong (role, organisation, biography, photograph). We will fix them.
• You object to being included, or want your data deleted. You have the right to object. We will weigh your reasons against the interest in the record and tell you the outcome and why. Where we agree, we remove you, and we keep only a note of your name so that you are not added again. If we do not agree, we will say so plainly and tell you how to complain.
• You want a copy of what we hold. Ask, and we will send it.

You can also complain to a data protection authority: in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EU, the authority in your country; in the UAE, the UAE Data Office.
